On one side the crystalline sea of the bay that offers refuge to the many boats that choose San Montano in the summer to drop anchor, on the other the lush vegetation that seems to recall distant, exotic landscapes.
Back in the 50’s San Montano Bay inspired Duke Luigi Silvestro Camerini which introduced the first cicas and palms of the island with the mission to create the Negombo thermal park, an oasis of relaxation surrounded by greenery that, still today, with his son, Duke Fulceri Camerini at the helm, offers moments of peace to those who choose to immerse themselves in the thermal waters.
Beside the private establishment (Negombo) San Montano Bay has a free beach and it’s perfect for families that want to enjoy the sea.
San Montano Bay is also a very famous archeological site and history place, where Santa Restituta, the patron of the island and in particular of Lacco Ameno village, arrived.

Forio Beaches
Zaro
Zaro is an off beaten swimming spot on made by lava rocks and frequented by those swimmers who do not like the "usual" beach with an umbrella.
Until a few years ago, Zaro cliff was one of the favorite destinations for naturists on vacation on the island of Ischia. Not that the location had this specific vocation, but it happened to find exponents of this philosophical-cultural movement very much in vogue in the 70s of the last centuries.
Due to the fact that the accessibility to Zaro requires a minimum level of familiarity with walking on rocks, this spot is more suitable for active people, and we won’t recommend it for families.
Located on the North Westerly coast of Ischia Island, and being in open sea, we recommend checking the weather before and only if the sea is calm, and more generally suitable for swimming among the rocks. The rest is taken care of by the generous nature of Ischia which here has smoothed the rocks to favor the formation of small natural pools that the sun quickly heats.
